Zaycon Foods - Chicken & Seafood Events

05/01/2012 Categories: Groceries

By April Pearson

Recently, I heard about a company called Zaycon Foods. They hold "events" in areas all over the U.S. where you can buy meats and seafood at bulk discount prices. Zaycon Foods

Families can save a lot of money by taking advantage of the bulk-buying power Zaycon offers. Even if you don't have a large family (or freezer), you can take advantage of this great deal by going in with a few friends to split a case! Zaycon has two events coming soon in the Cypress, Houston, Katy and surrounding areas (Conroe, Baytown, The Woodlands)!

The event that intrigues me the most is on boneless, skinless chicken breasts. They are offering a 40 lb. case of chicken breasts for only $1.79/lb ($71.60 per case)! $1.79 is a great a great price for boneless, skinless chicken breasts that are 100 % natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients.

They are also offering a Cod, Tilapia, and Shrimp event in select Cypress/Houston areas. Each is sold in 20 lb. cases for prices listed on their website.

To order:

1. Go to Zaycon Foods and register.

2. Choose the location where you would like to pick up your order.

3. Place your order for that event.

4. Pick up your order on the specified day and time.

Note: Orders must be placed by certain dates, so don't miss out! Go to Zaycon Foods and check it out today!

Food Town Grocery Deals 4/6 - 4/12

04/08/2011 Categories: Deal of the Week Groceries

After browsing all my grocery ads, I think Food Town has the most good deals this week. Here are some of the best ones that I see along with a bonus meal idea!

 Mild white onions $.39/lb

Rio Star Grapefruit (18lb Bag) $3.99

 Hass Avocados 2/$1

Pilgrim's Pride Frozen Boneless Skinless Fryer Breast 3 lb bag $4.47 ($1.49/lb) Stock-up price!*

 Bar S Corn Dogs (3lb box) $3.99

Jiffy muffin, pie crust, brownie, pizza crust, or pancake/waffle mix 4/$1

 Jiffy Corn Muffin mix 3/$1

Peter Pan Peanut Butter B2G1 Pack $2.99

 Lily's Bathroom Tissue (12 Rolls) $3.77 - $1.00 off In-Ad Coupon w/ $10 purchase = $2.77

 Del-Dixi Hamburger Dills (32oz) $.99

 Kraft Honey BBQ Sauce $.66

 Hunt's Tomato Sauce 4/$1

Verde Valle Pinto Beans (2lb bag) $.99

*We eat a lot of chicken in our house, so I would buy several bags. You will rarely, if ever, find boneless, skinless chicken breasts at this price. Consider picking up as many as you would use in the next month or two.

Dinner idea: You can cook pinto beans in a crockpot with water, chopped onion, salt and pepper for 5 hrs on high, or soak them over night and turn them on low in the morning before you head out. Let them cook 8-10 hours on low.

With pinto beans, you can make your own refried beans (huge money-saver considering cans are usually around $.99 a piece) or eat beans over rice for a very frugal dinner! Add ham or sausage for extra protein, but beans are a great source of protein on their own.  Serve with cornbread muffins (Jiffy mix is on sale!) and your favorite veggie for a complete meal.

See nutrition facts of Pinto Beans here.

Kroger Announces The End of Double/Triple Coupons

03/29/2011 Categories: Groceries Kroger

Kroger Logo

Kroger has announced that they will no longer be doubling or tripling coupons in their Houston area stores beginning April 13, 2011.

Here is the announcement as can be found on their website.

Honestly, I have been unhappy since I heard the announcement, simply because the future is unknown. They do mention that they will be starting a new savings program soon, so I will look forward to hearing about that.  Kroger has been my favorite store since I began couponing seriously a few years ago.  I am hoping that this change does not force me to switch to another grocery store, but I'm bracing myself for the change if it becomes necessary.

Here is a picture from my shopping trip last night to wrap up the March to Madness sale that just ended. This is an example of some great deals that I could get using coupons paired with sale prices! All of this has a shelf price of $188.22, and I only paid $69.97. That's a savings of 62%. Now, with these figures being presented, I actually only saved $4 with 'bonus coupons' which are the doubled or tripled "extras", so it might not weigh that heavily on us in the end. Only time will tell.

What do you think about Kroger's announcement? Will you stick with shopping at Kroger? What are your thoughts?

Please share them with me! I would love to hear from you!
