It’s Spring!  Do you notice a certain sense of change, excitement, freshness, and color! I love this time of year as everything comes alive again with a certain sense of ‘newness’. Not only is it time to knock out that spring cleaning list, it’s time to put away the linens of cozy winter fabric and color and bring out the crisp, lightweight, and light or bright colored linens.  A couple of basic changes to your bedroom or any room in your house can give any room a quick and affordable update. Here are some quick tips and tricks to give any room in your house that spring and summer feel.

For your bedroom:

Use a lightweight down comforter and choose a duvet cover that has spring and summer colors and patterns. Choose sheets and throw pillows that add matching accents to your bed, or another focal point in your room.  Switch out the lampshades and a fresh vase of flowers. Enjoy your ‘new’ look!  Have those other linens dry cleaned if necessary, and put them away in protective packaging so they are ready for fall and winter.

For your family room:

Change out throw pillows and blankets on couches and chairs that add a splash of fresh color and texture to the room.  Add some green plants that will add additional texture year-round and can also help reduce air impurities in your home.

For your kitchen:

Change out kitchen towels and linens, like placemats and napkins, for a spring look.  Lightweight fabrics and lighter colors will add a clean and fresh feeling to the busiest room in your home.  Your guests and family alike will enjoy a fresh look!

Changing color, fabrics, and even textures can make a room look completely redone.  Making these simple changes can be done inexpensively by shopping discount stores, checking into sales that some of your local home décor stores are holding, or even making some of these items yourself.  All of these changes are reusable for next year, so when you are done at the end of the season, just clean, fold, and store!

Enjoy your new looks and share how you made changes in your home!
